Recent additions, I like these guys less than 3" wear around the neck, maybe a key ring?

Read MoreHowdy all, pretty sure if you've been following my art movement things have changed a bit. Last night I launched my new updated version of what a website should be. HUGE thanks to my buddy Joe Lance who not only pushed me to make this happen but stepped up and made sure all the backside stuff no one sees happens, Thank you Joe. I'm open for Biz! Let the good times roll
Today I installed quite abit of art, some from my own private collection and sad to say some are a NFS, not for sale. Gotta keep a few good ones for myself ya? Other than the few that are not for sale pretty much everything else is or can be done up as a special order. Big thanks to all at US Bank.
What a great time to spend outdoors, once we had our booth setup we were good to go. Nine hours went by like 45mins. Once Arts Alive kicked in around 6pm open the flood gates. This was probably one of the funnest shows I've participated in, just wish it was more profitable. Big hugs to everyone who stopped by!
5th annual Humboldt Makers Street Fair is happening same day as Arts Alive. I'll have a booth set up with friends and will be located directly outside the Siren Song Tavern on 2nd street old town Eureka. Things get going at high noon and go till end of Arts Alive at 9pm. Stop by & check things out, should be for a great time.
Thank you to all who stopped by to see the magic & to all those who stretched big time and tried something new.
Since some of my earring inventory was gloriously depleted last weekend (awesome!) I came up with an entirely new line dubbed the "Tsunami Series". More hands on this weekend, I'll be also demonstrating the annealing process. Stop by and have some fun!
Last weekend the hit of the day was hands on making copper earrings. I show you first, then you apply same technique. This weekend I'll open it up again for hands on fun. Stop by open Sat/Sun 11-5. Today's featured art piece is a couple sea horses I did a couple weeks back, need a bigger one!
It was a fun couple days for the first week of Open Studios, I demonstrated first on how to make one earring, then the next person in line made the other. Fun process to see everyone get all happy and into the small fish earring they were making. I lost count at how many pairs of earrings were made. Kicker? Everyone who made theirs took them home with them, free fun! See you all next week.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see my Copperwood Art Studio, it is very much appreciated. With that said today I'll be doing demonstrations of the "making of earrings process" throughout the day, stop by and give your hand a shot at making a pair.
Hello everyone, I'll be open both weekends for Open Studios 2015. If you're in Eureka I'm out by the Eureka golf course, easy to find. Tons of new works I've recently completed. Original goal was to have 30 sharks by the time Open Studios rolled around, at the time I had only maybe half a dozen. I reached my goal of 30 well ahead of time, duh; so I modified my shark goal to 40. I hit that number a couple days ago and wow, how things change in such a small amount of time, very cool. Needless to say the SharQuarium is at full capacity and over flowing. Hope to see everyone out and about. Cheers!
Rutabaga Crown for this year is finished, Rutabaga Ball held on Saturday May 16, 2015. Another masterpiece completed, five years running for this Glorious crown maker.
Great turn out for Arts Alive May 2015, tons of people. The monster show was a huge success and rumor has it there'll be another one next year.
Busy weekend if you're an art lover. I'm showing at the following locations starting early Saturday evening: The Monster Pop Up show Gallery 622, right in between Smugs Pizza & Pinate Art Gallery, show starts at 5:30pm goes till 9:30pm. All art monster themed & $150. or less you take with you. Brenda Tuxford Gallery located upstairs and behind Sirens Song Tavern. Sharky the HammerHead makes his first gallery debut. Sponsored by Ink People in conjunction to Open Studios next month. Lastly I have a completely stocked fish tank located at Funk Shui, new earrings too. Mention you saw this and I'll give you 10% off your purchase. See you out there somewhere!
Garden Expo/Cannifest April 18 & 19 at Redwood Acres. Lots of new cool fish, but show was a flop.
Recent idea was to go big, make a big shark. I decided on a good design, then blew it up on the overhead projector. Size was limited to the size of my studio hence his present size. Wiring in the shape of Sharky took ten hours to complete then the skinning process began. This is where I cut and weld on piece by piece copper, very time consuming. This one I wanted to be different and asked a buddy who works with glass to make the eyes. Eyes by Topher Reynolds of Copious Glass came through. Sharky has over 50 SHARP teeth, blistering blue eyes & is ready for a new home.
I made it, goal complete, total thirty Manta Rays were completed during this run. These were not done as in everyday of the week or a consecutive 30. If I was in the studio then a piece a day, other committments such as kayaking could get in the way. Now onto more sharks, first one done "Hammy the Hammerhead".
Presently showing for the next six months "Things That Fly" located at the McKinlyville airport in close proximity of the baggage pick up area. There are other featured artists as well and the show came together nicely and recommend taking a look. First half hour of parking is on the house. Enjoy!
