ARTS! ALIVE - July 2019

I found a huge Madrone burl while living on Vashon Island, Washington state and this is the result of my wood carving skills. Piece done 20 years ago.

The wood had so much water in it I let piece set for five years, thus resulting in large cracks on the side of her torso. So to cover this up I came up with the snake skin idea.

This sculpture was from three sketches all into one. What you see is what the sketch looked like. Myrtle wood, copper, steel & brass.
